Private transfer (booked ahead)

~15–50 minFrom $30–50

A private transfer is booked before you fly: the driver meets you after customs and takes you straight to your resort, at a price fixed when you book. On Kiwitaxi, prices start from $30 to Cap Cana, $32 to Bávaro and $50 to Uvero Alto for the smallest car, with bigger cars for families and groups.

Check price on Kiwitaxi

Price as of October 16, 2026; may vary

Why take it

  • The price is fixed before you land, per car rather than per person
  • A driver meets you at arrivals, so there is no queue or haggling
  • Car sizes for families, groups and extra luggage

Worth knowing

  • Book ahead with your flight number so the driver can track delays
  • Prices on the booking site are "from" prices for the smallest car
02

Uber

Door to doorShown upfront in the app

Uber picks up at Punta Cana Airport, either on demand or booked up to 90 days ahead with Uber Reserve, which tracks your flight. The app shows the price before you confirm, and it can also book a licensed airport taxi at an upfront price. Follow the pickup directions in the app.

Why take it

  • The price is shown before you confirm
  • Uber Reserve tracks your flight and waits up to 45 minutes after landing for UberX
  • Licensed taxis can be booked in the same app

Worth knowing

  • Prices change with demand, and busy arrival times cost more
  • Uber says not to accept rides from people who approach you in the terminal
03

Airport taxi

Door to doorCheck before you ride

Licensed taxis wait at the terminal for arriving passengers. Agree the price for your resort before the ride starts. We do not quote taxi fares here: the airport publishes them on its own website, which we could not load when we checked, and we only print prices we can confirm.

Why take it

  • No booking needed
  • Can also be booked through the Uber app at an upfront price

Worth knowing

  • Confirm the price before you get in
04

Rental car

Your own pacePer day

Budget, Avis, National and Hertz have desks at the airport. National is on the right as you walk out after customs, and Budget is in front of the customs exit, with cars about 90 meters from the terminal. The Coral Highway (Autovía del Coral) runs west toward La Romana and Bayahibe.

Why take it

  • Freedom for day trips along the coast
  • Desks right after customs

Worth knowing

  • Budget and Avis desks are open 08:00 to 21:00, so late arrivals need another option

Before you land

Every passenger needs a Dominican eTicket for both entry and exit. It is free at eticket.migracion.gob.do and can be filled in as soon as you have your flight details, even months ahead; the airline asks for it at check-in. The US$20 departure tax is already included in your airline ticket.

Your passport should be valid for six months from arrival, and most visitors, including from the US, Canada, the UK and the EU, need no visa. Flying home: since July 15, 2026, some airlines check in at Terminal A again while others stay at Terminal B, so check your terminal with your airline. Landing late? Car rental desks close at 21:00, so book a transfer or use Uber.

How this guide was put together

Read on October 16, 2026. Private-transfer prices, times and distances are from Kiwitaxi's own route pages, as "from" prices for the smallest car; Uber details are from Uber's Punta Cana Airport pages; car rental desks and hours are from Budget, Avis and National. Entry rules are from the Dominican Republic's official tourism site and the US State Department, and the Terminal A change is from the airport's July 14, 2026 announcement. The airport's own website could not be reached that day, so airport taxi fares are not quoted. Prices change, so the booking page has the final price.
