ADO bus to the Hotel Zone

~45 min to km 9From MXN 170

ADO runs a direct bus from Terminals 2, 3 and 4 to a single stop in the Hotel Zone: Plaza Fiesta at Punta Cancún, around km 9 of Boulevard Kukulcán. It costs from MXN 170 (about US$10) one way and takes about 45 minutes, with up to nine departures a day from morning to early evening. For hotels farther along the Hotel Zone, ADO points you to the R1 and R2 city buses from the stop.

Why take it

  • The cheapest way from the airport to the Hotel Zone
  • Tickets online or at the ADO desk in Terminals 2, 3 and 4
  • Luggage goes under the bus

Worth knowing

  • It stops only at Plaza Fiesta (km 9), not at your hotel
  • Up to nine a day, morning to early evening, and none from Terminal 1
  • Hotels beyond km 9 need an R1 or R2 bus or a taxi from the stop
02

Private transfer (booked ahead)

Door to doorFrom $41

A private transfer is booked before you fly: the driver meets you after customs and drives you to your hotel door, at a price fixed when you book. On Kiwitaxi, prices start from $41 to Cancun and the Hotel Zone, $70 to Playa del Carmen and $108 to Tulum for the smallest car.

Authorised airport taxi

Door to doorAsk at the desk

Mexico's transport ministry tells travelers to use the authorised airport taxis; the airport lists taxi service at Terminals 2 and 3. Ask for the price to your hotel before you pay. We do not quote taxi fares here, because no official fare list is published, and we only print prices we can confirm.

Why take it

  • No booking needed
  • The officially recommended way to take a car from the airport

Worth knowing

  • Confirm the price to your hotel before paying
  • Book a private transfer instead if you want the price fixed in advance
04

Uber

Door to doorShown in the app

Uber's own Cancun Airport page says pickups can be arranged, but Mexico's federal transport ministry said on March 11, 2026 that app services are not authorised to pick up at airports, and that a court order does not stop authorities from issuing fines. Until that changes, an authorised taxi, a private transfer or the ADO bus avoids the problem.

Why take it

  • Upfront price in the app

Worth knowing

  • Not authorised to pick up at the airport, according to the transport ministry
  • The ministry says a court order does not stop authorities from issuing fines

Rental car

Your own pacePer day

Avis has counters in all four terminals, open 24 hours, and Budget, National, Enterprise and Hertz also rent at the airport. A car makes sense if you are heading to Playa del Carmen or Tulum, or planning day trips.

Why take it

  • Avis counters in every terminal, open 24 hours
  • Freedom for day trips down the coast

Worth knowing

  • Avis returns are on airport property in front of Terminal 2, with a free shuttle
