The worst month to visit Aruba is November

November is the wettest month of the year at 83mm — modest by Caribbean standards, but it comes with the most overcast days, sunshine down to around 10.5 hours, high humidity, and a trade wind that has lost its edge. October is close behind (56mm, 10.3 hours of sun) and is still 32°C.

Put that in context: Aruba's wettest month is drier than a typical July in the Bahamas or Jamaica.Rain usually falls in short, heavy bursts, often overnight, and the west-coast beaches dry out within the hour. There is no month when the island is genuinely unpleasant — which is the whole reason it markets itself as “one happy island” year-round.

Why October and November are the weakest months

• The trade wind drops.Aruba's constant 30 km/h easterly is what makes 31°C feel comfortable. In September–November it weakens, and the heat becomes heavy and humid.
• Storm remnants pass to the north. Aruba sits at 12°N, south of the main hurricane track, but late-season Atlantic systems can bring two or three days of rain, wind, and rough water on the normally calm west coast. Track them at the NOAA National Hurricane Center.
• Haze and cloud. More overcast days than any other month; the famously reliable sunset is less reliable.

The compensation is price: September and October are the cheapest months of the year, with the island at its emptiest.

The other "wrong" time: December 20 to January 3

The Christmas fortnight is the worst time to visit Aruba if you care about cost or space:

• Resort rates at their annual peak, often with 5–7-night minimum stays
• Palm Beach high-rises sold out months ahead; last-minute rooms are scarce
• Restaurants require reservations days in advance
• Flights from the US East Coast peak

Carnival week in February — the Grand Parade falls on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday — is a smaller version of the same thing, with road closures in Oranjestad. If Carnival is the trip, it is superb. If it isn't, check the dates.

If you have to travel in October or November

• Stay on the west coast. Palm Beach and Eagle Beach face away from the weather; the rugged east coast is not for swimming in any month.
• Plan around the showers, not against them. Rain here is short. Have Arikok National Park, the Butterfly Farm, or a rum tasting in reserve for an hour.
• Watch the five-day forecast once for storm remnants tracking through the eastern Caribbean; a system passing 500km north can still bring a rough day.
• Take the low-season deal.Rates in October are among the year's lowest — the honest answer is that most visitors barely notice the difference in weather.

Better windows: when to visit instead

• Mid-April to June: The sweet spot. Winter high season ends around April 15, when rates drop 20–30% while the weather stays identical — dry, sunny, and breezy. June is the sunniest month of the year.
• January – March: The most reliable weather, at peak prices. March is the driest month.
• Early December: The rains fade, the trade wind returns, and rates are still at low-season levels until the 20th.
